Professor Dwight C. Streit |
Professor; Ph.D. Electrical Engineering, University of California, Los Angeles, 1986; M.S. Electrical Engineering, University of California, Los Angeles, 1983; B.S. Electrical Engineering and Chemistry, California State University, Los Angeles, 1980
Research Interests
My research covers the broad area of solid state materials and electronics, which includes the following:
• electronic and optical materials
• semiconductor fabrication and characterization
• electrical and optical device design and modeling
• device and circuit processing
• microwave and millimeter-wave circuits
• high-speed digital and mixed-signal circuits
• advanced packaging
• radar and communication systems
I have published extensively in all of these areas over the past 25 years, including many invited and plenary talks at major international conferences.
Teaching Statement
The best preparation for a successful engineering career includes a deep understanding of fundamental theory combined with broad practical laboratory experience. The connection between theory and experiment enables students to transition gracefully from the classroom to the practice of engineering. This holds true in all areas from electrical engineering to materials science. My goals as a professor of electrical engineering and materials science are to instill both a respect for the power of theory and an appreciation for the elegance of a well-designed experiment.
